Your questions

What does Spravato feel like?

Most patients describe the experience as relaxing. You’ll rest comfortably in a quiet, certified treatment room. As the medication takes effect, it’s common to feel a sense of calm, drowsiness, or temporary, dream-like feelings of disconnection (called dissociation). These sensations are normal, expected, and fade within an hour or two. Our clinical team is there with you the entire time to ensure you are safe and supported.

The entire in-office process takes about two hours. This includes the time to self-administer the nasal spray, a period of rest, and the required safety monitoring by our healthcare team before you are cleared to leave.

No. Because SPRAVATO® can cause sedation and impair your coordination and reaction time, you must not drive or operate heavy machinery for the rest of the day. You must arrange for a ride home from a family member or friend after every treatment session.

Unlike traditional oral antidepressants that can take weeks, some patients may experience a reduction in their depressive symptoms within hours or days of their first treatment. Your individual results may vary, and our team will work closely with you to monitor your progress.

Do I still take my antidepressant?

Yes. SPRAVATO® is a prescription nasal spray that is always taken in addition to your daily oral antidepressant.

What is the treatment schedule like?

Treatment is twice a week for the first month, then weekly or bi-weekly as determined by your provider.

How should I prepare for my treatment day?

You must arrange for a ride home, as you cannot drive. We also ask you not to eat for two hours prior.
